UU Advocacy Network of Illinois.
A small group of highly enthusiastic folks from several CAUUC congregations is taking the first steps toward establishing a statewide advocacy organization for UUs in Illinois, similar to organizations in twelve other states (uustatenetworks.org). Our focus is legislative advocacy, but we foresee advocacy in other venues as well. On Saturday, May 16, a name was chosen (above), a mission process begun, and plans made to meet with organizers of other legislative advocacy groups for guidance, to launch some communication pieces useful for working with UUs statewide, and to stage a fall “World Café” to bring together interested UUs to sort out the issues we will work on.
